I'm so glad you're here! Here's me in two sentences:
As an empath with ADHD, C-PTSD, and CFS, I am a huge advocate for safe, judgment-free spaces. Whether I'm reading 100 books a year, writing a book of my own, tackling new challenges, or exploring art in all its forms--and I do mean ALL it's forms--creativity and compassion are at the core of everything I do.
a little more About me
Hi! My name is Kelly. I was born in Houston, TX and have lived in New Jersey, Houston, Orlando, Los Angeles, Austin, and College Station.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Recording Arts, was valedictorian of my graduating class, and have a passion for creating.
My other passion is learning. I love exploring new ideas and will jump straight into the deep end to learn new things.
I love art in all forms, whether it’s digital, hand drawn, painted, sculpted, carved, tattooed, written, sewn, performed or composed.
A little about my background:
I have more than nine years of customer service and sales experience, the ability to adapt quickly to new environments, as well as the creative and mental ability to achieve whatever I set my mind to.
I’m a huge book nerd and usually read about 100 books every year.
I once won 3rd place in a turkey calling contest. (it's okay, you can laugh)
I'm a self taught artist and sewer.
I grew up playing piano and played bassoon in band for 7 years (wow that feels like forever ago). My musical education has helped me in more ways than I probably even realize and I am so grateful for it.
Creativity is a huge part of my life, and a major aspect of who I am as an individual. I draw and paint a lot in my free time, and have had multiple major authors, including Leigh Bardugo and Jay Kristoff, compliment me on my pieces that were inspired by their books.
One of my favorite aspects of art is typography, which has been a passion of mine for over 15 years.
The first time I discovered that my love of music, art and creating (in general) could be pursued digitally was in college.
My three-month internship on Full Sail’s Dubbing Stage took me through more than seven student films as well as an independent feature film, giving me the skills and experience to succeed when working with different clients.
Experience in retail management has strengthened my leadership skills and taught me the importance of developing and empowering your team to strive for success. My time in retail also introduced me to visual merchandising, and heightened my understanding of what is visually pleasing to an outsider’s eye.
My ability to quickly adapt to new environments, be it personal or professional, has allowed me to achieve things beyond my goals and to succeed in every aspect of my life.
I love dogs and nature and would be perfectly happy if I could have a giant armchair in the middle of the forest where i could sit with my dog and read or draw all day. (I mean as long as there's a coffee machine near by... let's not get crazy.)
I hope you enjoy my portfolio! I'm creating new things all the time so make sure you check out my instagram for my newest pieces!
-Kelly
